Recruiting Push

By , September 9, 2009 3:49 pm

This year our Supreme Knight Mr. Carl Anderson deemed 2009,”The Year of the Volunteer”. This “call to service” is the core of our organization which gives each of us an opportunity to give back our time and talent, to and for those that are much less fortunate than WE.

This call to service is a gift of grace from our Lord as he instructs all of us in Luke 3:9, 11: “The ax is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire….. What should we do, the crowd asked? John (the Baptist) answered; the man with two tunics should share with him who as none, and the one with food should do the same.”

Thus, to be an active member of the Knights of Columbus provides us the “gift of works”, which affords us the opportunity to reach our heavenly goal. The work we do for the Knights packs a significant punch, in the last 10 years the Knights have donated 1.28 BILLION $ to charities across the world and 612 MILLION hours of volunteer service.

Sunday evening on Oct 11 we will be offering the “First Degree” to new recruits. We know there are many among us who have the heart to service as we do and I ask each of you to give me one name that I can call to recruit. Please let me know who and how I can contact them (phone/email) so we can share the treasure we have in being Brother Knights.

You can call me at 223 4192 or email me at

Yours in the bonds,

Steve Cashman
